The HANDWORK FESTA -SUI
Dear sir and madam.
It is a great pleasure to inform you that
we will be introducing our antique and handwork festa
during the upcoming event
- Teshigoto festa SUI (May 29 – 30, 2009)
in Nakagawa , Tsuzuki-ku ,Yokohama.

About “sui”
The HANDWORK FESTA -SUI – aims to encourage visitors
to explore the splendor of vanishing craftworks and heartwarming antique objects.
Please feel the pleasure of bringing those items in your daily life,
and recall the calm and affluent feeling which must have been more familiar in the past.
Today, our life is flooded with mass produced objects,
but we still find artisans and artists committed to painstaking handworks.
There are dealers who travel worldwide and introduce unique and spiritually-rich artifacts.
Even on the internet, there are shops offering various craftworks and antiques online.
When all these fascinating people and items gather in one place,
we believe that true goodness of these items can be shared by more people.
And so this is the purpose of this project.
The subtitle of this festival: “萃”(read Sui in Japanese) is a word found
in the classic Chinese text “I Ching”.
Among the 64 hexagrams presented in this sutra of fortune telling,
the 45th is “Sui” implying “people and things gather together just like water flow into low areas”.
Inspired by the philosophy of China with its 4000 years history,
we decided to use this word “Sui” that predicts “Good Luck and Change”.
Shopping
We bring together more than 20 person/shops, such as artists and traditional craftsmen of a younger generation and dealers of various artifacts (textiles & utensils from around the world, antique furniture, and antique folk arts).
Please note that we accept only cash, as a rule. You are free to bring home the purchased items on the day of the festival. Kuronekoyamato delivering service is also available.
